Which way are you running?

Matthew18:15 (NIV)states: If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you.  If he listens you will have won your brother over.

That scripture in the NLT translation states: If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the fault.  If the person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.

What is this scripture telling us to do if we are the one that is hurt, bleeding, smarting, devastated, and crushed?  It is telling us that we have a responsiblility to “go” to that very person who has offended us and “tell them what they did”.  It means we have to go and discuss the matter “one-on-one”.

The problem with many to most of us is that we decide to go in the other direction.  We move away from that person.  We talk to everyone else BUT that person about what happened to us.  We use the reasoning that we can’t go and say anything to that person because of our emotional devastation or anger toward them.  “We might do something that we shouldn’t” is what we say.  We entertain unforgiveness more than we entertain forgiveness and reconciliation.

Well God“s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts; they are higher than ours and they are always right.

Talk to me about the direction you run in after being offended by someone.  Do you run toward the person or do you run away?
